Jean-Luc Tremblay

Jean-Luc Tremblay is a partner in the Assurance group of PwC Canada’s Montreal office. He is specialized in services to the financial services sector, including audits of property and casualty insurance and life insurance companies and their segregated funds, investment funds and fund managers, as well as broker dealers.

In his career, Mr. Tremblay has been charged with the audits of many public companies and private companies. He serves on several internal committees related to the financial sector. His expertise is in demand at the national level for updates in the insurance and investment management sector as well as for Canadian strategic projects.

Mr. Tremblay has helped many clients apply new accounting standards. In 2011, he was the senior manager responsible for one of the firm’s new national accounts. He was charged with the transition of a well-known financial institution to a new auditor, as well as all the issues related to a year of conversion to IFRS. In particular, he helped a major company in the financial sector with all aspects related to accounting and purchase price allocation as part of an acquisition. He was also responsible for advising a client in the life insurance and segregated fund management sector on structural and regulatory issues as part of the creation of a subsidiary dedicated to managing mutual funds for the public.

Mr. Tremblay has a Bachelor of Commerce in Public Accountancy from McGill University. He became a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in 2002. He plays a major role on various committees and in assurance services initiatives related to Human Capital (campus recruitment, performance evaluations, strategic groups, etc.). In 2013, he was selected to participate in the highly selective Genesis Park leadership development program in Colorado, designed for high-potential employees. He actively participates in the activities of the French Chamber of Commerce Canada (Montreal Section) and the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. Mr. Tremblay is also in demand for his talents as a speaker and his ability to transfer knowledge, and for two years was a lecturer in McGill University’s CPA training program. He has given training sessions on IFRS in the offices of PwC clients in the insurance industry and in investment funds and investment management. Mr. Tremblay also helps train resources in the Assurance group in the PwC Montreal office, presenting various subjects related to his area of expertise. He is a team player who is active in the community, having taken part for several years in the fundraising activities organized for various organizations, including 24h Tremblant and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
